D Raja (CPI) said Parliament cannot remain a mute spectator to the university rusticating students in a 'vindictive manner' on the basis of 'doctored and false' videos.
The faculty and students of Jawaharlal Nehru University alleged that over 10 students, including the visually and physically challenged, were injured due to the "brutality" of police personnel who severely baton charged them during their protest against the hostel fee hike on Monday, even as the Delhi Police denied the accusations.
"A few days back, Najeeb's mother had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and requested for a CBI probe in the matter. In order to get a different perspective on the case and have a fresh look at the evidence, the matter was transferred from South District to Crime Branch yesterday," another senior officer said.
The woman is a first-year PhD student and she has alleged that Anmol Ratan, a JNU student and AISA activist raped her on Saturday, police said.
